PAUL BHOSLE

HALLELUJAH

This piece is inspired by the angels found on the fonts that hold consecrated water inside a church. In the canonical books of the Bible, angels interact with humanity at God's bidding. They have a majestic air about them, and they are referred to as both angels and men, sometimes even within a single story. Here the artist depicts the angel as easily describable, a creature of ethereal beauty and with immense wings. Angels serve as messengers, intermediaries between man and God, and their messages must be listened to.

There is a lot of attention paid to the detail in the large wings of the angel and in the bold colours used. The clear blue eyes look directly at the viewer, communicating a truth visually, a theology the artist is passing on. The artwork is a spiritual communion between the artist and the Creator.
