Gokulchandramaji Ka Swaroop

By Rare

Price on request

Both poets and artists of Nathdwara found inspiration in the beautiful moonlit nights of autumn or Jeshtha Kaal, which arrives once the monsoon fades away. This rare painting shows Krishna in his aspect of Gokulchandramaji. Gokulchandrama - the moon of Gokul - portrays the Lord playing a flute. He has a Tribhangi posture i.e. bent from three sides - the neck, waist and legs. This swaroop is evocative of the Maha-raas Utsav during Sharad Purnima. The pichwai is reminiscent of the Deccan style - characterized by a lavish use of silver and a deeper colour palette.

School of Deccan.
