The colourful theme of “Morkutir” features Shrinathji playing the “bansuri”, or flute, as peacocks dance to his mellifluous tunes. This pichwai depicts the season of ‘Varsha’ or Monsoon where peacocks are seen preening before the peahens on the banks of the Yamuna River. The dance of the peacock symbolizes rain, and the bird’s courting ritual was mimicked by Krishna, who danced for Radha, his beloved.
