In Marrakech, the medina, tucked away down a seemingly endless street off the Djemaa el Fna Square beyond the spice bazaars, you'll find a boldly dressed man in fuchsia pink. He marks a door that takes you into a cool courtyard overgrown with vines that opens to a wall of candle-lit lanterns. The aromas of oudh and lavender take precedence over the evening as he lights a delicately gold-gilded candle featuring a debossed eye motif.
